Holidays in South Corfu

These pages are an introduction to what is perhaps a lesser known part of the island - although becoming increasingly popular. This isn’t a complete travel guide, but just some general information and thoughts on the places we ourselves like the most.  We have lived here for many years and have our own favourites (and a variety of opinions!) but we hope this will encourage visitors to explore our lovely beaches and villages.

South Corfu really does offer something for everyone, whether you want to spend lazy days on the beach or by the pool, walk through spectacular countryside, go horse riding, or experience traditional villages and family-run tavernas.

It is the perfect place for those looking to experience the island's natural beauty, culture, and history. In addition, there are a variety water sports on offer - including wind surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and paragliding.

There are a number of interesting historic sites including Roman Baths and a Medieval Castle. Traditional fishing villages such as Petriti, conservation areas such as Lake Korission, and mountain villages such as Chlomos, with only cobbled paths running through them - all worthy of a visit.

One of the best times to visit is in the quieter spring months when the island is full of flowers, Even in summer it’s possible to find a practically deserted beach, especially as the season quietens down in September, and moves into still warm (and warm sea!) October.

If your holiday on our lovely island turns your thoughts to buying a property, we have a great selection of houses, land and villas for sale by Corfuhomefinders, one of the most experienced estate agents on Corfu - always happy to advise!
